A TikTok Archive and Mirror Site

Tik.fail started as a TikTok downloader, mirror, and video archive. Users could submit a TikTok URL, and the service would fetch information about the video, save a copy, and create a page that could be opened again later.

That was the main difference between Tik.fail and a regular TikTok downloader. Most download tools simply process a link and hand the video back to the user. Tik.fail worked more like a searchable TikTok archive, keeping copies of videos it had already processed so they could still be browsed later.

A snapshot of the site from 2023 reported more than 4.33 million archived TikTok items. That number reflects the size of the service at the time. It does not mean all of those videos are still available today.

What Could Tik.fail Do?

Mirror and Archive TikTok Videos

Tik.fail stored its own copy of videos that had already passed through the service. If the original TikTok was later deleted, the account disappeared, or the post stopped loading, an archived copy could sometimes remain available on Tik.fail.

This was especially useful for videos that had already disappeared from TikTok. A normal downloader usually depends on the original post still being online. Tik.fail could continue serving a copy if the video had been archived before it was removed.

Browse Archived TikTok Videos

The old Tik.fail site included browsing and search features for videos already stored in its database. Users could look through archived content using creator information, music, and other video details.

It was never a complete mirror of TikTok, though. Tik.fail did not automatically preserve every video on the platform. A video had to be captured and stored by the service before it could appear in the archive.

Download TikTok Videos

Tik.fail also worked as a TikTok downloader. Older versions of the site could provide downloadable video files in different qualities along with some of the video’s metadata.

Downloading a copy does not transfer copyright or permission to republish it. Anyone reusing another creator’s video still needs to consider the creator’s rights, TikTok’s rules, and any applicable copyright laws.

Does Tik.fail Still Work?

Not the way it used to.

As of October 2026, the original Tik.fail site no longer provides TikTok downloading, archive browsing, or video search. The old browse section is no longer available as an entry point to the archive.

If you are trying to find a video that Tik.fail saved in the past, your best option is to look through surviving third-party archives. If you simply want a TikTok viewer or mirror site that still works today, you will need to use another service.

Can You Still Find Old Tik.fail Videos?

Some of them, yes, but not through the original Tik.fail website.

Permaloop currently hosts an independent tik.fail collection containing videos imported from older Tik.fail archives. The collection can be searched by creator information and currently includes tens of thousands of preserved videos.

Permaloop is not the official Tik.fail site, and its collection is not a complete copy of the old Tik.fail database. If a video was never archived, or if the stored copy was not preserved, pasting the original TikTok URL will not bring it back.

If you are specifically looking for videos that may have been saved by Tik.fail, you can check the Tik.fail archive on Permaloop.

How Was Tik.fail Different from a Regular TikTok Downloader?

Feature

Old Tik.fail

Typical TikTok Downloader

Process TikTok links

Yes

Usually

Download videos

Yes

Usually

Keep a separate copy

One of its main features

Usually not long-term

Browse older archived videos

Yes

Usually not available

Find videos deleted from TikTok

Only if previously archived

Usually not possible

Current status

Original service has shut down

Depends on the service

Can a TikTok Archive Recover Deleted Videos?

Not every deleted video.

A TikTok archive can only show content that was captured and stored before the original disappeared. If a video was deleted before any archive saved a copy, the original URL alone usually is not enough to recover the missing video.

So a deleted TikTok does not automatically mean an archived copy exists somewhere. Whether it can still be found depends on whether Tik.fail, another archive, or an individual user saved it before it disappeared.

Was Tik.fail an Official TikTok Website?

No.

Tik.fail was an independent third-party project and was not operated by TikTok or ByteDance. It used its own infrastructure to store and re-host copies of TikTok videos that had already been processed by the service.

Third-party TikTok archive and mirror sites can disappear, change domains, or lose parts of their collections over time. They are useful for finding saved copies, but they should not be treated as a replacement for TikTok itself.

What TikTok Archive or Mirror Sites Still Work?

If you only want to browse TikTok online and are not looking for something from the old Tik.fail archive, there is little reason to keep trying the original Tik.fail address.

Other third-party TikTok viewers and mirror sites are still available, including Urlebird. These services can change quickly, though. A site may shut down, move to another domain, or change how visitors can access it, so availability should always be checked at the time you use it.

For current tools, it makes more sense to use pages covering active TikTok viewers separately from older archive projects such as Tik.fail.

Tik.fail was a TikTok archive and mirror site built to save, browse, and download TikTok videos that had already been captured by the service.
